Val-d'isere, located in the Savoie region in southern France, is a commune in the Traneeise valley. Located 5 kilometers from the border with Italy, the commune is located on the border of Vanoise National Park in 1963. During the 1992 Winter Olympics, the city was also host to many different skiing activities. The town, which is considered one of the world’s top ski resorts, was also host to the 2009 World Skiing Championship. The area unsurprisingly attracts many winter tourists.
