The name of the state of Indiana, with the capital of Indianapolis, in the United States, means the home of the Indians. The region, which gained state status in 1816, is the 19th state of the United States. Gary, a city in the state, neighbored by Michigan is in the north, Ohio is in the east, Kentucky is in the south, and Illinois in the west, is attracting attention as being the birthplace of Michael Jackson.
